aftercare

please be aware this is your tattoo and you have paid good $$ for it and it is up to you to take care of it. it was an investment and it can only stay as nice as you treat it.

second skin aftercare

  1. leave bandage on for minimum of 24 hours. bandage will collect seepage from the tattoo. this is completely normal..

  2. if the seal has not broken and the seepage is tolerable, it is recommended to leave the bandage on for a minimum of 3 days and no more than 5 days.

  3. if the seal breaks before the 3 - 5 day period, remove the bandage that evening when you are home and able to wash it. basically, you should be somewhere that isnt a public place.

  4. to remove bandage (i recommend taking a long hot shower to assist with the removal process). start at an edge or corner and either roll the bandage over itself or gently peel back over itself.

it is also possible to remove it in the same manner as you would a 3m wall sticker.

  5. after the bandage has been removed, switch to a good moisturizing lotion. no scented or glitter lotion!! continue with lotion for the next week or so. this length of time depends on your body and how quick it heals.

old school aftercare

  1. leave bandage on for about 2 hours or until you get home. no public spaces.

  2. wash your hands you filthy animal, then you may remove the bandage.

  3. wash your tattoo gently with only your hand/fingertips with a mild antibacterial soap. be sure to wash all traces of blood, plasma, or dried pigments from the tattoo to prevent scabbing.

  4. apply a very small amount of a&d or aquaphore for the next 3/4 days 2/3 times per day.

  5. after the 3/4 days of ointment, switch to a good moisturizing lotion that contains no scented or glitter lotion!! continue with lotion for the next week or so. this length of time depends on your body and how quick it heals.
